Sea Events

Sea Events
The Ship Raid
Locations Second Sea | Third Sea

Sea Events are random encounters that occur while traveling across the ocean using a Boat. Featuring various enemies, islands, and environmental hazards that reward players with valuable materials, accessories, titles, and progression items. Most Sea Events are tied to Sea Danger Levels, with rarer encounters appearing in higher danger zones. Several events are also required for obtaining exclusive weapons, completing quests, and unlocking end-game content.

Requirements:

  • Access to the Second Sea or Third Sea.

  • A Boat must be nearby for Sea Events to occur.

  • Most Sea Events require sailing through Sea Danger Levels 1–6.

  • Certain Sea Events have additional spawn conditions or progression requirements:

    • Kitsune Island only appears during a Blue Moon.

    • Mirage Island is used during the Race Awakening questline.

    • Frozen Dimension is required for fighting the Leviathan.

Notes:

General

  • Sea Events can occur during both day and night, except Kitsune Island, which only appears during a Blue Moon.

  • Aura and Instinct do not affect the chances of Sea Events appearing.

  • Sea Events occur as long as a Boat is nearby.

  • The player's boat does not need to be moving for Sea Events to spawn.

  • If a player's boat is destroyed, Ship Raids, Haunted Ship Raids, and Ghost Ship Raids immediately despawn, while other Sea Event enemies remain active.

  • Most Sea Event enemies are immune to or take reduced damage from M1 attacks.

Second Sea

  • Farming Sea Events in the Second Sea is generally not recommended due to the limited variety of events and lower spawn rates.

  • Rough Sea is required for obtaining Pole (Second Form).

  • Completing Sea Events contributes toward the Abyss Tamer and Nautical Bane titles.

  • Sea Events in the Second Sea do not reward Valor.

  • Players do not need to sit in the driver's seat for Sea Events to occur.

Third Sea

  • Ship Raids and Sea Beasts from the Second Sea can also appear in the Third Sea, but with increased difficulty.

  • Most Sea Events require exploring Sea Danger Levels 1–6.

  • Mirage Island is required during the Race Awakening questline.

  • Rough Sea is also required for obtaining Pole (Second Form).

  • Defeating multiple Sharks or Piranhas spawned from the same encounter still counts as completing a single Sea Event.

  • Multiple Terrorsharks can occasionally spawn in quick succession.

  • Players do not need to sit in the driver's seat for Sea Events to occur.

Tips:

  • Portal users can enter and exit Dimensional Rift to despawn unwanted Sea Events. This is an unintended game behavior.

  • Having another player leave the game while inside Dimensional Rift can remove sea fog, improving visibility.

  • If a player enters Dimensional Rift while driving a boat, the boat may also enter the rift. Exiting while seated may launch the player high into the air, while exiting without sitting can cause the boat to disappear.

  • Dragon and Kitsune transformations can occasionally cause boats to glitch when mounting them while entering the driver's seat.

  • Venom, Magma, Ice, Yeti, Gas, and awakened Buddha are recommended for Sea Event farming due to their water immunity or water-walking abilities.

  • Mammoth, Blizzard, Spider, Spirit, Phoenix, and Pain are also effective choices because of their high damage or survivability.

  • Shark Race V2 or higher is recommended for immunity to water damage.

  • Use boats with at least 2,000 HP, as weaker boats can be destroyed easily.

  • Hunting Sea Beasts and Rumbling Waters with multiple players is significantly easier.

  • Avoid searching for Mirage Island in Sea Danger Level 6, as visibility is heavily reduced.

  • To safely wait for Kitsune Island, park your boat near the edge of Sea Danger Level 6 and move far enough away that the boat's health bar disappears.

  • Having one or more players with the Shipwright subclass greatly improves long Sea Event hunts by allowing boats to be repaired.

  • Defeat Terrorsharks quickly to reduce the chance of another Sea Event spawning immediately afterward.

Additional Information:

  • Multiple Sea Events can rarely occur at the same time, such as Mirage Island, Rumbling Waters, and a Terrorshark spawning together.

  • When a player's boat is destroyed while exploring Sea Danger Levels, the danger meter disappears unless another boat is nearby.

  • Sharks can rarely spawn in Sea Danger Level 0 outside Tiki Outpost.

  • On 2025-09-28, a bug prevented Sea Events from naturally spawning in the Second Sea and Third Sea, although they could still be summoned in the First Sea using Summon a Sea Beast.
