Aura
Aura, formerly called Enhancement, is the first ability most players buy. It wraps you in black armor, so your sword, gun and fighting style hits do more damage (21% more from stage 1), and as it levels it also cuts the damage you take. It is cheap and stays yours for good.

How do you get Aura?
The Ability Teacher sells Aura for 25,000 Beli. You find him in a cave of Frozen Village and in Magma Village, both First Sea islands. After buying, Aura is yours for good. Switch it on or off with J on PC, the console D-pad's down button, or the fist button on mobile.

What does each Aura stage give?
Aura has six stages, 0 to 5. The first two raise your damage, the next four lower the damage you take, and every stage changes how the armor looks. The damage bonus covers swords, guns and fighting styles, not Blox Fruit attacks; the one known exception is Dough, where some moves hit harder while Aura is on. Reaching stage 5 also unlocks the Iron Man title.
Aura stages: buffs, EXP and look
Each stage keeps the bonuses of the stages before it. From stage 1 you deal 21% more damage in total, and stages 2 to 5 keep that and add the damage cut shown, which is the total cut at that stage. The last column is the EXP you need to reach that stage.

How do you check your Aura stage?
The game never tells you when a stage arrives. Toggle Aura off and on to see the current look, or use the Aura Editor NPC. You find him in Middle Town (First Sea, the red-roofed house by the Blox Fruit Gacha), in the Second Sea's Kingdom of Rose and inside the Castle on the Sea (Third Sea). It only changes how Aura looks. Your buffs follow the highest stage you reached, even if you pick a lower look. If you pick a look below stage 5, you will not see new stages appear until you set the editor to Stage 5 again, which shows the look of the stage you really have.
How do you level up Aura faster?
Aura only earns EXP while it is switched on, and each qualifying hit gives 1 EXP:
- You land a hit on an NPC, boss or player with a fighting style, sword or gun.
- You get hit, unless an Elemental fruit's Reflex shields you.
- Blox Fruit attacks you land never count, even the Light fruit spear M1 or a fruit that turns into a sword.
Where and how to grind Aura EXP
- Dark Step X and C hit several times each, which is great for farming EXP.
- Spam-click a low-damage sword on low-level NPCs. An Elemental fruit keeps them from hurting you while you do it, although then you only earn EXP from your own hits.
- A private server and some extra points in the Defense stat make long sessions safer.
- Good spots: Pirate Starter (Bandits spawn in groups of seven, but their punches can knock you off the island if you step away from the keyboard), Marine Starter, or the Jungle, with Monkeys bunched in the middle by the quest giver.
Why does Aura matter against Elemental fruit users?
Elemental fruits (11 in total; Ice, Light, Magma and Flame are the popular ones) come with Elemental Reflex, a passive that stops regular NPCs from hurting you once your level reaches a cutoff set for each NPC. On First Sea NPCs the level you need is the NPC's own level up to Sky Bandit (Lv. 150). From Dark Master (Lv. 175) on it sits a little higher: you need Lv. 177 against a Dark Master and Lv. 381 against a Fishman Warrior (Lv. 375). Bosses ignore the Reflex. An enemy or player with Aura on can always hurt an Elemental user, whatever the level gap. Your own Aura lets your hits through the same way, from any stage. In the Third Sea most NPCs use Aura, so the Reflex protects an Elemental user much less than in the First Sea.
How do you craft new Aura colors?
Aura colors are crafted at the Barista, who works in the Cafe of the Second Sea or in the Mansion of the Third Sea. A color needs berries and Fragments, and some also need a recipe:
- Berries from bushes. They can spawn in any bush in all three seas, and a recipe may ask for several of one kind. Snow White, for example, takes 10 White Cloud Berries.
- Fragments:
1,500 for a Rare color and
7,500 for a Legendary one. - A recipe, for the colors that need one. The Barista Cousin gives them out free once you are at stage 5.
Where is the Barista Cousin?
He shows up at a fixed spot once a server is 20 minutes old, stays for 20 minutes, leaves, returns 2 minutes later and keeps cycling until the server closes. If he is not at the spot you checked, server hop and try again.
- Second Sea: Forgotten Island (on a hill left of the skull), Hot and Cold (at the gate of the fortress that holds the Smoke Admiral), Snow Mountain (by the Boat Dealers), Green Zone (beside the Ship Dealers), Ice Castle (by the left-hand wall before the castle) and Cursed Ship (below the right-hand stairs in the main hall).
- Third Sea: Port Town (east side, beside the tall green tower), Floating Turtle (near the Musketeer Pirates), Great Tree, Castle on the Sea (stairs inside the small house left of the castle) and Hydra Island (inner wall of the mansion).

You can also buy extra Aura colors with
Robux from the Aura menu in your inventory. The skins page shows every color. Aquamarine can no longer be obtained: it was an event color.
How does Aura look on fruits, swords and guns?
Update 24 gave Aura the same cleaner look on all three. A colored Aura also tints your swords and guns.

Aura quirks
- The Light spear and the Ice trident pick up the Aura color, and so do all Rubber moves, awakened Dough moves and the awakened Spider V.
- Fruit transformation glitch (Beast-type fruits, the ones that turn you into an animal or creature): switch Aura on while transformed, then change back with Aura still on. Your body shows no Aura at any stage, but your swords and guns keep it. It does not work with Buddha.
