Dragonstorm
Dragonstorm (also written Dragon Storm) is a Legendary gun added in Update 24 and shaped like a six-barrel minigun. Hold the normal attack and it fires a fast stream of exploding bullets until a heat meter fills, so up close in PvP it wins through steady pressure rather than one big burst.
You craft it from the Dragon Hunter on Hydra Island in the Third Sea. The grind has two parts: style mastery first, then the materials, especially the Dragon Eggs, which need a special ability before you can pick them up.

What moves does Dragonstorm have?
M1 is the normal attack, called Fireworks. Z has two versions, a ground one and an air one.

Dragonstorm moves, mastery and Instinct

How do you get the Dragonstorm?
Dragonstorm cannot be bought or dropped: you craft it, and Skull Guitar is the only other gun made from materials. The grind has two parts: first the style mastery in step 1 (400 Dragon Breath mastery, then 500 Dragon Talon mastery), then the Dragon Eggs in step 4. Do the first four steps before you farm the rest.
Dragonstorm crafting steps
Meet the Dragon Hunter's requirements. He needs Dragon Talon at 500 mastery and the Yellow Belt quest (Water Warrior) finished. The Dojo Trainer gives that quest once you have 500 Dragon Talon mastery: defeat 5 sea entities (Sharks and Piranhas are the quickest; Rumbling Waters do not count). You learn Dragon Talon from Uzoth outside the dojo, after you have 400 mastery on Dragon Breath and bring Fire Essence from the Death King, 3,000,000 Beli and 5,000 Fragments. This step is the longest wall: 400 mastery on one style, then 500 on the next.
Earn the Dojo Belt (Red). It is the Dojo Trainer's seventh quest: defeat a Terrorshark or Rumbling Waters. The belt unlocks the Dragonstorm recipe.
Learn the Dragon Tether. Finish every Dojo Trainer quest for the Dojo Belt (Black), then talk to the Dragon Wizard in the Dojo and press the Dragon Tether button. The eighth and last quest, Ryu to Ittai, has you finish a Prehistoric Island event and pick up at least 3 Dinosaur Bones, so you clear one Volcano Event before you can take any egg.
Win the Volcano Event on Prehistoric Island twice more. With Dragon Tether learned, touch the relic in front of the big T-Rex skull to start it. Keep the relic above 90% health until the timer ends, and hit a Lava Golem or a volcano crack once so the egg reacts to you. Each event gives you 1 Dragon Egg and 5 Dinosaur Bones, so these two events cover 2 eggs and 10 bones, on top of the one you finished for the belt.
Collect 30 Blaze Embers. Talk to the Dragon Hunter and pick Hunt on Hydra Island: each hunt (3 Hydra Enforcers, 3 Venomous Assailants or 10 trees) spawns 3 embers, so 30 embers is 10 hunts. Walk through an ember to pick it up.
Craft it. Open the Dragon Hunter's Craft menu in the Dragon Dojo on Hydra Island and pick Dragonstorm.

How do you upgrade the Dragonstorm, and what does it give?
Take the materials to a Blacksmith in Pirate Village, Kingdom of Rose or Port Town. A weapon can only be upgraded once, and you must upgrade it before you can enchant it. Bazooka and Skull Guitar need the same materials. Full details are in the Upgrading guide.
Dragonstorm upgrade cost
First upgrade: +6% damage.
Where to get them: the Dark Fragment always drops from Darkbeard in the Second Sea. Magma Ore drops from Military Soldiers, Military Spies, the Magma General (formerly Magma Admiral), Magma Ninjas and Lava Pirates; the First Sea Military Soldiers have the least health, so they are the quickest to farm. The 15 Dragon Scales come from the Dragon Crew on Hydra Island (crafting step 5).
What are the best Dragonstorm combos?
Players who found these chains rate all five Easy, and they run on gun stats unless the Needs line says otherwise.
Easy: Portal and Godhuman with a held stream
- Keys: Portal X (optional) > Portal Z > Dragonstorm X > Dragonstorm M1 (hold 2 s) > Godhuman X > Godhuman Z > Godhuman C > Dragonstorm Z > Dragonstorm M1 (hold 2 s) > Portal V (optional)
- Needs: Portal, Godhuman; gun stats.
- Tip: Jump twice and look down before Dragonstorm X. If the target survives, use Portal V and keep shooting M1 inside the rift.
Easy: Gravity Blade and Godhuman
- Keys: Gravity Blade Z > Godhuman Z > Godhuman X (tap) > Godhuman C (held) > Dragonstorm Z (air) > Dragonstorm X
- Needs: Gravity Blade, Godhuman; gun stats.
- Tip: Tap Godhuman X and do not miss it, then hold Dragonstorm Z in the air.
Easy: Ice and Cursed Dual Katana
- Keys: Ice V > Ice Z > Dragonstorm M1 (hold until the Ice Z tornadoes nearly vanish) > Godhuman X > Godhuman Z > Godhuman C > Cursed Dual Katana X > Ice C > Dragonstorm X > Dragonstorm Z > Ice X
- Needs: Ice, Godhuman, Cursed Dual Katana.
- Tip: Tap Cursed Dual Katana X: holding it can send you too far. This is the longest chain here (11 inputs), so learn the shorter ones first.

- Needs: Sanguine Art; gun stats.
- Tip: Landing Sanguine Art Z is the hard part; fire Dragonstorm X right after it.
Easy: Sharkman Karate and Spikey Trident
- Keys: Sharkman Karate C > Spikey Trident X > Sharkman Karate X > Sharkman Karate Z > Portal Z (optional) > Dragonstorm Z (mid-air) > Dragonstorm X

- Tip: Portal Z is optional but makes the kill more certain.
Dragonstorm strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
General
- Great for Terrorshark and Ship Raid hunts.
- Long-ranged moves and high damage.
- Very good for boss farming.
- Easy to use up close: hold the button and it keeps firing.
Fireworks (M1)
- Can stun-lock targets in a fruit transformation almost indefinitely, except Dragon. Stun-lock means they cannot act while you keep hitting.
- Very high damage if every bullet lands.
- Damages boats and other large targets with ease.
- Drains Instinct fast, especially on Buddha users.
- Held fire stuns, so it nearly shuts down Beast fruits (the fruits that transform you into animals or creatures): their transformed movement becomes useless. Dragon is stun-immune, but the steady damage still drains its fury meter, the bar that powers its transformation.
Draconic Cascade (Z)
- The air variant auto-aims and is quite difficult to dodge.
Infernal Comet (X)
- High damage and a large area.
- The knockback helps against Terrorsharks.
Weaknesses
General
- Rubber users are immune, as with all guns.
- Grindy to obtain, and not easy to unlock early.
- The upgrade needs hard-to-get materials.
Fireworks (M1)
- Hard to aim in PvP, and the bullets spread at long range so they do not always land.
- Cannot damage Sea Beasts or the Leviathan.
- Single target.
Draconic Cascade (Z)
- The ground variant is hard to aim.
Infernal Comet (X)
- Needs decent aim.
- The strong knockback pushes enemies away while you grind, so use it as a finisher.
Verdict
Pick Dragonstorm if you farm bosses, hunt Terrorsharks and Ship Raids, or want steady PvP pressure up close. Skip it if you fight Rubber users, want a gun you can get early, or do not want to spend several Volcano Events on materials.
Dragonstorm tips and tricks
- Buddha forms always use the air Z: in either Buddha transformation, Z plays the air variant, so aim it like a lock-on.
- Share the egg runs with Dragonheart: Dragonheart needs 1 more Dragon Egg, 6 more Dinosaur Bones and 15 more Blaze Embers. To build both, plan four Volcano Events after you learn Dragon Tether (one egg and 5 bones each gives 4 eggs and 20 bones against the 3 eggs and 16 bones you need), on top of the one you finish for the Dojo Belt (Black).
- Draco V4 needs this gun: the Draco race wants 500 mastery on Dragonstorm and Dragonheart before its V4 upgrade (a race's final stage), so level it even if you prefer another gun.
- Do not hold M1 for long: prolonged held fire often trips the anti-cheat, which counts your kills as suspicious and withholds bounty and honor. Most combos here hold it for about 2 seconds.
- Watch the heat meter: the stream stops when the heat meter (the red line under the crosshair) fills up, so release the button for a moment between bursts.

What changed in the Dragonstorm updates?
Dragonstorm arrived in Update 24; its range was cut afterward and its upgrade bonus changed twice, so check the date on older guides.
- The upgrade bonus was raised from 6% to 8% damage. It has since been put back to 6%.
