Flash Step
Flash Step is a movement Ability that lets the player instantly teleport a medium distance. Each use costs 10 Energy and triggers a 15 second cooldown, so it must be used carefully rather than spammed. The ability is available on all platforms. On PC, it is activated by pressing R. On mobile, players can tap the Flash Step button and then select a destination. On controller, it is activated by pressing the right joystick.
Obtainment:
Flash Step can be purchased from the Ability Teacher for $100,000. The Ability Teacher can be found in two locations in the First Sea: inside the hidden cave at Frozen Village and at Magma Village. Purchasing the ability from either location permanently unlocks Flash Step.
Potential Buffs:
• Human V2 doubles Flash Step's teleport range and reduces its cooldown from 15 seconds to 10 seconds, allowing for more frequent repositioning.
• Draco V2 causes Flash Step to create a damaging explosion around the player when the teleport is activated.
• Equipping the Kitsune Ribbon reduces Flash Step's cooldown by 25%, letting it become available more quickly.
• Using the Gravity fruit adds a damage effect to the location where the teleport begins, allowing Flash Step to harm nearby enemies.
• While transformed with the Yeti fruit, Flash Step leaves behind a clone at the starting location. The clone remains for a short time and deals damage to enemies that come into contact with it, providing a longer-lasting effect than the one granted by Gravity.
Flash Step can be used to perform the Wall Glitch, including accessing Wenlocktoad's room inside The Café in the Second Sea. It is also highly effective for escaping combos, repositioning behind opponents, or quickly closing the distance before using high DPS close range attacks.
Energy Core pairs well with Flash Step by helping maintain enough Energy for repeated teleports during combat. Flash Step is considered one of the most important PvP abilities because it provides a reliable way to escape, reposition, and quickly return to the ground after being launched into the air by an opponent.
Flash Step can only teleport onto a solid surface and cannot target mid air, unless the player is using Angel V4. Other players count as valid surfaces, allowing skilled players to Flash Step onto airborne opponents.
Flash Step can be used to teleport into water, but players using a Blox Fruit will rapidly lose health unless they are using the Shark race or have the Leviathan Shield equipped. However, Flash Step cannot be activated while swimming, though players can briefly jump above the water's surface to use it.
Players with Flash Step can be identified by the blue tint on their dash. The ability can also be used to climb vertical walls, cliffs, and similar surfaces, provided they are not too tall.
Sea Beasts and the Leviathan do not count as valid surfaces, so Flash Step cannot target them.
Awakened Buddha can use Flash Step while in water because its transformed size prevents normal swimming, allowing it to walk along the seabed. If the player is ragdolled or pushed into the water, the character may briefly begin swimming, though the awakened form usually stands back up immediately.
Human V4 with the Psycho gear gains two additional Flash Step charges, allowing the player to use Flash Step up to three times before the charges recover.
