Trident

Trident is a Rare sword that uses water-based attacks and offers a mix of combat utility and mobility. It is particularly useful during the late First Sea and early Second Sea, where it can support both progression and general combat.

One of the sword's main strengths is its mobility, allowing players to move around more effectively while fighting. Combined with its decent damage and utility, this makes Trident a solid choice for players advancing through the early stages of the game.

However, its usefulness drops off as players progress further into the Second Sea. Many later swords offer better damage, stronger utility, or greater versatility, causing Trident to be outclassed in most activities.

While it remains a respectable option for early progression, Trident is generally viewed as a stepping-stone weapon rather than a long-term choice.

Strengths & Weaknesses

A quick breakdown of where this build shines and struggles.

Strengths

  • Great beginner-friendly sword.

  • Faster M1 speed than most First Sea swords.

  • Low mastery requirements.

  • Decent damage and combo potential for early-game PvP.

  • Remains useful later due to its pull utility.

  • Trident Throw [Z] provides mobility and repositioning.

  • Trident Throw [Z] pulls enemies toward the user, enabling combos.

  • Can serve as a budget alternative to Spikey Trident.

  • Trident Throw [Z] has a shorter cooldown than Spikey Trident's pull.

  • Water Pulse [X] breaks Instinct.

  • Water Pulse [X] has decent AoE.

  • Water Pulse [X] pulls enemies inward, making it useful for combo setups.

  • Good support sword for hybrid and fruit users.

Weaknesses

  • Cannot damage Blade-type users.

  • Fourth M1 dash can be inconvenient for autoclicking and grinding.

  • Outclassed by stronger swords later in the game.

  • Trident Throw [Z] is difficult to aim consistently.

  • Trident Throw [Z] only affects a single target.

  • Trident Throw [Z] does not break Instinct.

  • Water Pulse [X] has short range.

  • Water Pulse [X] has a noticeable startup.

  • Water Pulse [X] locks the user in place during use.

  • Limited damage compared to later-game swords.

Verdict

Trident sacrifices damage for utility, and it does so very well. Its pull effects, Instinct-breaking AoE, and low mastery requirements make it one of the best support swords available in the First Sea and a surprisingly useful weapon even later on.
