Spikey Trident

The Spikey Trident is a Legendary sword built around combo control and combo extension. Its main strength comes from its ability to pull opponents back toward the user, making it much easier to continue combos that would normally be difficult to connect. Because of this, it is a popular choice in PvP and is often paired with fighting styles and fruits that benefit from keeping enemies locked in place.

Its pull mechanic works especially well with high-impact moves that are difficult to extend from, allowing players to create longer and more reliable combo chains. This utility gives the weapon value beyond its damage output and makes it a common choice in combo-focused builds.

The sword also has some usefulness against Sea Beasts. Despite having single-target abilities, both of its skills can damage Sea Beasts, giving it situational value during sea content without requiring a separate weapon.

Its biggest weakness is how easily experienced players can counter it with proper use of Instinct. Since many of its combo opportunities rely on landing its pull effects, players who react correctly can avoid much of its pressure. The Cyborg race can help reduce this weakness to some extent by making it easier to maintain pressure and secure follow-up attacks.

Obtainment:
The Spikey Trident can be obtained as a drop from both the Cake Prince and the Dough King In Sea of Treats It has a 10% drop chance from the Cake Prince, while the Dough King offers a higher drop rate, making it the more reliable boss to farm for players specifically seeking the weapon,

Strengths & Weaknesses

A quick breakdown of where this build shines and struggles.

Strengths

  • Excellent combo extender thanks to its pull mechanic and reliable stuns.

  • High damage output for a utility-focused sword.

  • Strong mobility, allowing users to quickly reposition or engage targets.

  • Both abilities provide crowd control, helping keep opponents locked in combos.

  • Effective against Sea Beasts despite having only single-target attacks.

  • Flying Trident Pull has long range, making it useful for catching distant targets.

  • Dough Hurricane can continue hitting enemies even if they activate certain moves, making it difficult to escape once caught.

Weaknesses

  • Highly dependent on aim, making it less forgiving than many other PvP swords.

  • Does not break Instinct, allowing experienced players to avoid its attacks consistently.

  • Cannot damage Blade users without an appropriate enhancement or fruit.

  • Both abilities are single-target, limiting effectiveness against groups.

  • Small hitboxes and slow M1 attacks can make pressure difficult to maintain.

  • Missing an ability often leaves the user vulnerable to counterattacks due to recovery time.

  • Some combos can be escaped through Ken-tricking and Flash Step.

  • Certain situations can force the user into dangerous positions, including water or close-range engagements.

Verdict

Spikey Trident is one of the best combo-support swords in the game, offering powerful stuns, strong mobility, and exceptional combo extension. While its lack of Instinct Break and reliance on precise aim prevent it from being beginner-friendly, it remains a highly effective PvP weapon in the hands of skilled players who can consistently land its abilities.
