Musket
Musket is an Uncommon gun sold in Middle Town on the First Sea: a muzzle-loaded firearm that specializes in heavy shots. It fires slowly.
It is cheap and easy to buy, and its two moves need little mastery. Its damage is low overall, so treat it as an early First Sea gun and a combo piece, not a long-term main.

What moves does Musket have?
Musket moves, mastery and Instinct
Fires a musket ball at a slow rate. It hits hard for a First Sea player, but the 2.7 s cooldown is above average.
Fires an explosive bullet at the target. When it hits, it bursts into smaller homing bullets. It works much like Venom Bow Z. It is easy to land, but it does less damage than the normal attack.
Fires an arrow-shaped explosive bullet that makes a small area explosion. Holding X forms a flaming arrow first. It works much like Kabucha Z. A single target can escape it easily.

How do you upgrade the Musket, and what does it give?
Take the materials to a Blacksmith. A weapon can only be upgraded once, and you must upgrade it before you can enchant it. Full details are in the Upgrading guide.
Musket upgrade cost
The Blacksmith screen: the upgrade gives +25% damage.
Where to get them: Fish Tail drops in the First and Third Sea from Fishman Warriors, Fishman Commandos, Fishman Lords, Fishman Raiders and Fishman Captains. Leather drops from many common enemies such as Pirates, Brutes, Gladiators and Mercenaries; Pirate Village is a good place to farm it.
What are the best Musket combos?
There is one Musket combo, rated Medium-Hard. It is a chain for a gun-main or sword-main build that puts the Musket between fruit, sword and fighting style hits.
Medium-Hard: Ice, Cursed Dual Katana and Dragon Talon
- Keys: Ice V > Musket X > Cursed Dual Katana X > Dragon Talon Z > Flash Step > Ice C > Musket Z (optional) > Dragon Talon C
- Needs: Ice, Cursed Dual Katana, Dragon Talon, Flash Step; a gun-main or sword-main build.
- Tip: Torching Shot follows the Ice V, and Draconic Bullet is the one optional step, near the end of the chain.
Musket strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
General
- Very cheap at 8,000 Beli, easy to obtain, and only 20 and 50 mastery are needed.
- Its combo potential is decent, and both moves are easy to land.
Normal Attack (M1)
- High damage for a First Sea player.
Draconic Bullet (Z)
- Easy to land, and the homing bullets help once it hits.
Torching Shot (X)
- Good area damage.
Weaknesses
General
- Rubber users are immune, as with all guns.
- Low damage overall.
Normal Attack (M1)
- Slow shots and an above-average 2.7 s cooldown, and it never breaks Instinct.
Draconic Bullet (Z)
- Its homing bullets can be dodged with Instinct.
Torching Shot (X)
- A lone target can escape it easily, and it breaks Instinct only on a direct hit.
Verdict
Buy the Musket if you want a cheap gun for the First Sea or a piece for a combo like the one above. Skip it as a long-term main, since its damage is low overall.
Musket tips and tricks
- Keep using the normal attack: the shot is worth firing between moves, even with its slow rate.
- Aim the first hit of Draconic Bullet: the first hit breaks Instinct, while the homing bullets after it can still be dodged.
- Fire Torching Shot at groups: the area damage is its strength, while a lone target can escape it.
- Check your device: the click normal attack does not work on a Chromebook unless it has a touchscreen.
- Upgrade early: the Blacksmith recipe is only 5 Fish Tail and 5 Leather for +25% damage.

What changed in the Musket updates?
The Musket arrived in Update 1 and was reworked in Update 24, so older guides still list Dragon Bullet and Bold Pistolero.
