Canvander
Canvander is a Legendary sword from the Third Sea, dropped by the Beautiful Pirate boss on Floating Turtle. Both of its moves are dashes, a rush through enemies (Z) and a dash that fires five slashes (X).
Its draw is easy aim, mobility and heavy Instinct pressure.

What moves does Canvander have?
Open Moves for what each key does with a clip, Stats for the mastery you need to unlock each move, plus cooldown and energy, and Break for Instinct.
Instinct is the dodge ability. A move that breaks it hits through the dodge and switches Instinct off for about 5 seconds.

How do you get Canvander?
Canvander is a boss drop, not a shop item. The Beautiful Pirate drops it in his domain.
- Where: the Beautiful Pirate Domain on Floating Turtle. Leave the mansion gate, take the second right, and go through the fenced area around the corner. Touch the door to enter. It sits directly below where the Horned Man stands.
- The boss: the Beautiful Pirate is level 1950 with 320,000 HP (110,000 in his first form and 210,000 in his second). He respawns every 45 minutes. The quest from the Deep Forest Area 2 Quest Giver pays 50,000 Beli and 100,000,000 EXP.
- His attacks: he uses Canvander's own moves, Piercing Dash and Scattering Gust. Keep your distance, since he moves very fast and hits hard, and dash or use Instinct against his moves.
- The drop: Canvander is a possible drop, so plan on several kills.

How do you upgrade Canvander, and what does it give?
Take the materials to a Blacksmith in Pirate Village, Kingdom of Rose or Port Town. A weapon can only be upgraded once, and you must upgrade it before you can enchant it. Full details are in the Upgrading guide. The upgrade gives +8% damage. The materials have pages too: Dragon Scale and Leather.

What are the best Canvander combos?
Easiest first. Each chain pairs Canvander with a fruit or fighting style.
Easy: Lightning and Godhuman
Easy: Sharkman Karate
- Keys: Canvander Z > Sharkman Karate X > Canvander X > Sharkman Karate Z > Sharkman Karate C
- Needs: Sharkman Karate.
- Tip: Quick timing is needed after Canvander Z and Sharkman Karate X.
Easy to medium: Sanguine Art
- Keys: Sanguine Art C > Canvander Z > Sanguine Art Z > Canvander X > Sanguine Art X
- Needs: Sanguine Art.
- Tip: Fast, high damage and fairly easy to execute. Replacing Canvander Z with X gives a simpler version.
Medium: Godhuman
- Keys: Godhuman C (held) > Canvander X > Canvander Z > Godhuman Z > Godhuman X
- Needs: Godhuman.
- Tip: Switch from Canvander Z to Godhuman Z quickly, or Godhuman Z will not land.
Canvander strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
General
- Easy to aim, and great mobility.
- Both moves drain a lot of Instinct dodges when used in quick succession: up to 7 dodges in a second.
Piercing Dash (Z)
- No end lag, so you can use any move during the dash.
Scattering Gust (X)
- The slashes have long range and a decent hitbox.
- Lets you hit a chasing enemy while you move away from them.
- The purple screen tint can annoy opponents.
Weaknesses
General
- Cannot damage players using the Blade fruit.
- Hard to grind with, since the M1 dashes you forward.
Piercing Dash (Z)
- The rush is hard to combo with, and the hitbox is small.
- Short range compared to the mobility moves of other swords.
Scattering Gust (X)
- It is hard to land all the projectiles.
Verdict
Pick Canvander if you want an easy-to-aim mobility sword and can farm the Beautiful Pirate for it. Skip it if grinding is your main use or if you fight Blade fruit users.
Canvander tips and tricks
- Chain moves out of Z: Piercing Dash has no end lag, so cast your next move while the dash is still playing.
- Drain Instinct fast: use Z and X back to back, because the drain is highest in quick succession.
- Retreat with X: Scattering Gust lets you attack a chasing enemy while you get further from them.
- Watch the dash into the target: X can carry you behind the enemy, so keep distance at the start. If you end up behind them, turn around before the next move.
