Dark Dagger
Dark Dagger is a Legendary sword from the Third Sea and a drop from rip_indra True Form, the raid boss of the Castle on the Sea. It is a small, quick sword built around two moves, a rush (Z) and a thrown dagger that teleports you behind the target and stuns it (X).
It suits players who like to chain a fruit or fighting style into it, and its quick moves work with nearly every build.

What moves does Dark Dagger have?
Open Moves for what each key does with a clip, Stats for the mastery you need to unlock each move, plus cooldown and energy, and Break for Instinct.
Instinct is the dodge ability. A move that breaks it hits through the dodge and switches Instinct off for about 5 seconds.

How do you get Dark Dagger?
Dark Dagger is a raid boss drop, not a shop item. You summon rip_indra True Form yourself and defeat him, and the sword is one of his possible drops.
- Press the three Aura Color buttons at the Castle on the Sea. You need the Snow White, Pure Red and Winter Sky Aura colors equipped to press them, and any player can do this at any time.
- Place a God's Chalice on the pedestal to the right of the castle entrance. That summons rip_indra True Form, and everyone in the server sees the screen shake and the fog roll in.
- Defeat him. He is a level 5000 raid boss with 425,000 HP and leaves after 10 minutes. Partway through, he regains all his health and enters his True Form. Dark Dagger drops at a 5% chance.
- Other drops: 3 levels, 45,000 to 55,000 Beli, 1,200 to 1,500 Fragments, the "Shadow Sovereign" title (#165), the Valkyrie Helm and access to the Portals inside the Turtle Mansion, Hydra Island and the Castle on the Sea.
- A God's Chalice: the best way to get one is to server-hop for chests or to defeat Elite Pirates. Sea Beasts do not drop it.
- For the fight: be at least level 2000, bring teammates, and keep Instinct on, since most of his moves can be dodged with it.

How do you upgrade Dark Dagger, and what does it give?
Take the materials to a Blacksmith in Pirate Village, Kingdom of Rose or Port Town. A weapon can only be upgraded once, and you must upgrade it before you can enchant it. Full details are in the Upgrading guide. The upgrade gives +8% damage. The materials have pages too: Dark Fragment, Dragon Scale and Scrap Metal.

What are the best Dark Dagger combos?
Easiest first. Each chain uses Dark Dagger to open or connect a fruit or fighting style.
Easy: both moves, then Sanguine Art
- Keys: Dark Dagger Z > Dark Dagger X > Sanguine Art Z > Sanguine Art C > Sanguine Art X
- Needs: Sanguine Art.
- Tip: The shortest chain here: both Dark Dagger moves open it and Sanguine Art finishes.

General
- Good combo potential.
- A very low M1 cooldown (0.2 s) and extremely fast moves.
- Good for catching runners: X has high range and teleports you behind the target.

Weaknesses
General
- Cannot damage players using the Blade fruit.
- Hard to obtain: you have to summon and beat a raid boss.
- Both moves hit one target only, and the hitboxes are small.

- Bad range.
Shaming Slash (X)
- Needs good aim, and it can be dodged.
Verdict
Pick Dark Dagger if you want a fast sword to chain into combos and you are happy to farm rip_indra True Form for it. Skip it if you need an area weapon for grinding, since both moves hit one target.
Dark Dagger tips and tricks
- Swap weapons mid-X: plan the next move before you throw the dagger, since you can change weapon while Shaming Slash plays out.
- Turn around after Z: a glitch can let you phase through the player after landing Z, leaving you unable to follow up. Turning around after the hit avoids it.
- Pair it with Godhuman: Dark Dagger is highly compatible with Godhuman, and three of the four chains above use it.

What changed in the Dark Dagger updates?
There are no recorded balance changes, only the release and the new look.
- The look of the sword was redone. Before this update, the worn sword appeared to look like a golden cross.
