Trial of the Machine
The Trial of the Machine is the race trial required to awaken the Cyborg race. It is a survival-based challenge where players must avoid incoming bomb attacks for a fixed duration. Compared to most other race trials, it is simpler in structure but becomes more demanding in later stages due to increased pressure and timing.
Appearance:
The Trial of the Machine takes place in a grey industrial-style room with stone walls covered in pipes. The floor is bordered by stone and features scattered gears across the area. The central playable space is a distinct grey square, which serves as the main arena for dodging attacks.
Overall, the room is more straightforward and open compared to other Trial of Time environments.
Mechanics:
Upon entering the arena, the player is subjected to continuous bomb drops.
To complete the trial, the player must survive for 45 seconds without being hit. Bombs can land anywhere in the arena, and their landing positions are telegraphed using red warning circles, similar to Bomb fruit landmine indicators.
While early trials are relatively easy to survive, later stages—especially the fifth trial—feature more frequent and harder-to-dodge bomb patterns.
Tips:
Keep moving at all times to avoid being caught by unexpected bomb drops.
Jumping helps escape tight situations where movement is restricted.
Difficulty increases significantly in later trials, so maintaining awareness becomes more important over time.
Speed is a major advantage; equipping accessories like the Pilot Helmet can make the trial significantly easier.
Avoid staying stationary, especially during the third and fourth trials where bomb frequency increases.
A known interaction allows players to use Skull Guitar [X] at the final second to enable movement and Flash Step, which can help reposition safely.
